Decades of Data Experience in Precision Ag
Joe Tevis is the founder and president of Vis Consulting, Inc. and the creator of CropVision.
Joe received a PhD in Agricultural Engineering from Iowa State University in 1991
studying computational fluid mechanics. His career began in precision agriculture with a
Post-Doctoral Research appointment at Texas A&M University studying the application
of geo-statistics in cotton.
Dr. Tevis moved into the industry in 1995 with Ag Chem Equipment Company providing leadership in precision ag machine control and data management systems. This work continued with AGCO from 2001–2011, and more recently with Topcon Precision Ag from 2011-2016.
Today he owns and operates Vis Consulting, offering advice in precision agriculture with an emphasis on collecting quality data as well as pursuing innovation opportunities. He also stays active in data standards efforts in agriculture including the Agricultural Industry Equipment
Foundation (AEF) and AgGateway.
